Wrapping up 2017 with Carmmunity

This year has brought many changes to Carmmunity. The addition of talented team members, a new app framework, and a new website to match. After our initial beta run of the Carmmunity app, we’ve taken the feedback our community gave us, and implemented a large number of changes throughout our organization.

Team Members

As our ideas and ambitions grow, so does our need for help. Most recently Aaron Williams, assuming the position of Chief Marketing Officer, bringing his unique skillset in marketing. Aaron has grown the Carmmunity Facebook page to over 215,000 followers. In addition, Joseph Smith has joined the team as a full stack engineer, working primarily on the front-end iOS and Android applications.

Both Aaron and Joe have brought tremendous bandwidth to our company’s effort, in their respective areas. We look forward to building the world’s greatest automotive enthusiast platform together.

App Framework

The landscape of mobile app development has changed significantly since we launched our app in beta. A few years ago, the only way to get a good native app user experience was to develop separate native apps for iOS and Android, with completely different codebases. That added a lot of overheard from the development perspective, and slowed down the iteration process significantly.

Now, we have hybrid app solutions that actually work. A hybrid app is a native application built using HTML, CSS, and Javascript—Which are languages used on the web. This allows us to iterate incredibly quickly, fix bugs sooner, and push updates to our app without the need for the end user to manually update it.

The solution we chose is called Ionic. It’s a hybrid framework that checks the box on every requirement we have for our app.

Our Website

The last topic to cover right now is our new website, and it’s intended purpose. We wanted to create a place to keep our users, and businesses updated with everything going on in our company. From app updates and releases, to business news and press releases.

Here’s to the New Year!

All of us at Carmmunity wish you a happy and fulfilling new year, and we can’t wait to see what waves we can make in 2018! Thanks to all of you for supporting us. You make this possible.
